Cleo House was born to Leo and Josie Harris on her family ranch north of Browning on April 9, 1926, and passed away in Deer Lodge on her 90th birthday.
In 1945 she married her high school sweetheart Duane House. Together they owned a ranch north of Browning, where they worked hard side by side. They were an integral part of the community and raised their two daughters Judy and Lynn.
In 1974 they bought the Harvey Eliason ranch and moved to the Deer Lodge Valley. They retired from ranching in 1990 and moved to a lakeside property near Kalispell and spent their winters in Yuma, Ariz.
Ten years later they came back to Deer Lodge to 800 St. Mary’s Avenue, where they pursued their hobbies of music and gardening. Cleo’s passion was her love of gardening and her flower garden was admired by many. Twice she was featured with her flower garden in the Silver State Post.
She was a member of Eastern Star, the Presbyterian Church, several bridge clubs and the Woman’s Club.
Mourning her passing are her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Tim Bolton of Butte; her daughter Lynn Blaine of Deer Lodge; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Duane and her eight brothers and sisters.
Services were held on Wednesday at the Presbyterian church.
