James Lloyd Wells September 5, 1965 - April 29, 2022
Jimmy Wells’ big heart beat its last, as he passed away in his home, surrounded by loved ones. He was 56. Born in Fairmont, Minn., to Daryl F. and Donna M. (Hoss) Wells, he grew up in Sioux City. Family sailing trips bred in him a sense of adventure, and he became a lifelong explorer, rock hound and arrowhead hunter. He was a graduate of the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School. Jim was a carpenter and cabinet maker in Bend, Ore., where his fearless nature often found him in the wilds. He later became a Survey Crew Chief working all over the United States. Wherever his travels took him, he would find a band in need of a drummer. He owned a cafe in Philipsburg, Mont., where locals enjoyed his famous pico. Jim settled down in Bondurant, Ia., where he married his love, Sue Clark. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by Sue; his sisters, Ann Mullen and Mary Uhl; and his nephew Jesse Mullen of Deer Lodge. His family requests that, in remembrance of him, you find someone to hug today.
