Betty Brand Betty Brand, 86, left our world the morning of May 30, 2014. Betty was born April 14, 1928, in Deer Lodge, to William and Margaret Thompson. On November 20, 1948, she married Joe Brand in Deer Lodge. Together they raised three daughters; Dianne, Caryn and Pam. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Brand, daughter Pam Kowalski, brothers Jim Thompson and Bill Thompson. Loved ones left behind include daughters Dianne (Gary) Howey, Hinsdale; Caryn (Roger) Pelletier, Dillon; son-in-law Alex Kowalski, Lake Forest Park, Wash.; brother Jack Thompson, Deer Lodge; sister Dorothy Ann (Steve) O’Hare, Albany Ore.; grandchildren Ryan Howey, Tanya Linn, Ali Pelletier and Madison Kowalski; great-grandchildren Spencer, Karson, Tucker and Savannah. The Rosary was held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at St. Rose Parish in Dillon. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at the Immaculate Conception Parish in Deer Lodge. Margaret Ruth “Ruthie” Hunt Margaret Ruth “Ruthie” Hunt, beloved mother to Cathy (Daryl) Hoffman of Helena and Carol (Hal) Doeg of Land O Lakes, Fla., joined her forever soulmate and our father, James Donald (Don) Hunt on Wednesday, May 21 at the age of 86. She was surrounded by both daughters, Cathy and Carol, granddaughter Jenny and her niece Laurie Horswill of Butte. She was born in Deer Lodge on November 11, 1927 to Max and Elizabeth Moore who preceded her in death in 1967. She was also preceded in death by our father Don in 2006 and her sister, Maxine Fiske in 2001. She worked as a waitress at Kenny’s Fountain and Bowling Alley, as a switchboard operator at the Deer Lodge telephone office and retired in 1982 from the Registrar of Motor Vehicles Department in Deer Lodge. Mom was often seen out in the yard tending to her flowers of which she took great pride. She loved socializing with family and friends and going for rides in the countryside. She is survived by her daughters Cathy and Carol, sister Barbara (Bill) Syrros of Henderson, Nev., granddaughter Jenny (Jeri) Goodwin and grandsons Doug (Jennifer) Hoffman of Helena, Dale (Gina) Hoffman of Salix, Iowa and Daniel Hoffman of Billings. Her beloved great-grandchildren Connor, Jake, Emmalyn, Miranda, Hunter, Katie and great-great granddaughter Madalyn, as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. She will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Cancer Society or a charity of choice. Comments are closed.
